2-1 STATUTORY MISSION
(source: ORARNG Regulation 10-2)

The mission of the Oregon State Defense Force is to augment the Oregon National Guard as an internal force to provide the following:

(1) An understanding of county/local emergency operations.

(2) Participate with county/local civilian emergency operations authorities in training exercises.

(3) Know the National Guard units and their capabilities.

(4) Advise the Joint Operations Center (JOC) & local commanders on emergency needs in their respective areas of operations.

(5) When called upon by The Adjutant General (TAG) the Oregon State Defense Force will replace the Oregon Army National Guard as a State force when the National Guard is mobilized and ordered into federal service.

2-2 SPECIFIED MISSIONS.

A. In the event of a natural or man made disaster, the Oregon State Defense Force will:

(1) Provide liaison between the civilian emergency operations authorities and the Joint Operations Center (JOC) and/or local commanders.

(2) Provide HAM communications as alternate communications during emergencies

(3) Be preparded to provide assistance to National Guard commanders to process soldiers for State Active Duty (SAD)

(4) Be prepared to provide assistance in a civilian emergency operations center.

(5) Communicate needs and actions deeded necessary and assigned by the Governor or TAG.

(6) Provide support to missions deemed necessary and assigned by the Governor or TAG.

B. Each ORSDF headquarters will establish liaison with the host ORNG Battalion/Brigade/Wing headquarters and determine the required level of support. ORSDF headquarters will evaluate all requirements and determine the best use of capability and resources and request approval of tasking as part of the unit METL. Upon approval of the mission, the ORSDF headquarters will coordinate training with the Oregon National Guard through DCSOPS-MS

(1) The commander of the ORSDF element assigned to the Battalion/Brigade/Wing headquarters responsibilities include:

(a) Serve as special staff to the local National Guard Commander

GENERAL MISSIONS.

A. In the event of natural or man made disaster the Oregon State Defense Force will be prepared to provide assistance and liaison with the local National Guard commander and augment other National Guard activities, when directed.

B. In the event of natural or man made disaster the Oregon State Defense Force IAW ORS.401.025 may perform support duties at the direction of the Governor, or the Oregon Military Department.

C. Each ORSDF headquarters will establish liaison with the host ORNG Battalion/Brigade/Wing headquarters and determine the required level of support. ORSDF headquarters will evaluate all requirements and determine the best use of capability and resources and request approval of the tasking as part of the unit METL. Upon approval of the mission, the ORSDF headquarters will coordinate training with the Oregon Military Department.
